Andrea Myles Scholarship

About Andy

Andrea (Andy) Myles (nee Lite) graduated from Washington University’s School of Fine Arts in 1975 with a degree in graphic design. After taking time away to raise her children, she returned to WU as an employee at the School of Medicine in the department of Medical Photography, Illustration, and Computer Graphics. She retired in 2013 and then devoted much of her free time to painting and drawing. She particularly loved plein air (in the open air) painting, and often visited the Shaw Nature Reserve to paint. After receiving a diagnosis of incurable brain cancer in 2018, Andy continued to paint for as long as she was able.

In addition to being an avid painter, Andy was one of the founding members of Gateway Academy of Classical Art providing most of the graphic design. Her warmth, quick wit, and artistic drive helped establish the camaraderie that still marks our studio.

GACA’s scholarship program

As a way of honoring Andy’s life and her passion for the arts, GACA is pleased to offer two high school students the Andrea Myles Memorial Scholarship.
