"Textural Painting: Exploring Anselm Kiefer's Techniques"
Tuesdays & Fridays — 9:00 - 12:00
Dates: July 10, 21, 24, 31; August 11, 14, 25, 28.
(NOTE various Tuesdays & Fridays)

Beginning Friday, July 10th, Victor Wang will be teaching an 8 session class at GACA.

Class Description: Contemporary artist Anselm Kiefer revolutionized modern painting with his deeply tactile, heavily textured surfaces. His masterworks create a dual experience, shifting completely between distant observation and close-up interaction.

As an artist deeply fascinated by his rich surfaces, I invite you to join me in this specialized study. I will share my personal insights and experiences with Kiefer's methods. We will experiment with dynamic mark-making, raw materials, texture building, and glazing layers to recreate the iconic surface quality. You can apply these techniques to any subject matter you prefer, including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, or semi-abstract compositions. I will coach you step-by-step as you develop one to two finished pieces over this 8-session course.
