Wednesday 1am-4pm: Sculpting the Female Torso
$350.00

Instructor: Brei Harris

8 Sessions | August 31–September 19

This focused sculpture class explores the structure, proportion, anatomy, and gesture of the female nude torso through direct observation of a live model. Working in water-based clay, students will develop a torso from the underlying skeletal structure and major anatomical masses to the subtle transitions of the surface.

Demonstrations and guided instruction will cover establishing proportion and gesture, constructing the rib cage and pelvis, understanding the relationship of the major muscle groups, and refining the planes and contours of the torso. Particular attention will be given to the balance between anatomical accuracy and the natural rhythms and asymmetries of the human figure.

Students will work progressively, beginning with simple masses and moving toward greater anatomical and surface refinement. The class is appropriate for students interested in strengthening their figure-sculpting skills and developing a deeper understanding of the three-dimensional human form.
