In this 5-day oil painting workshop, American figurative artist Patricia Watwood will teach composition using a portrait model with props and setting to tell a story with a single figure.    The early part of the workshop will focus on strategies for composition, design and creativity, including creating a thumbnail sketch. The model will take a week-long pose.  Over the course of the week, we will develop one larger painting.  The overall themes will focus on  narrative ideas, using color design and symbols, and how to create an expressive mood through composition. Building our painting in layers of drawing, value and full color, you will learn about a color oil palette, and traditional painting methods.  All levels welcome.
